Signs that you Live in a Place that is Actually Running Out of Water


The faucets in all public bathrooms are turned off. You have to use hand sanitizer instead. One had a mist of water coming out. It was ingenious. It got the job done with a fraction of the water use.

There is a limit of 16 5L water bottles per person in the stores.

The water bottles are being delivered without labels to speed up production.

You are allowed one 2 minute shower per day.

There is a 50L limit per person per day.

There are announcements in English and Afrikaans that give suggestions of things to buy to save water, like paper plates and hand sanitizer.

There was a display of umbrellas in a drug store and I laughed when I saw it. Then I saw the sign above it that said, "Be Optimistic"
